English study is mandatory in NSW from Kindergarten to Year 12.
The L3 Program (Language, Learning and Literacy) emphasises a balanced approach to teaching all the components of a quality literacy program whilst immersing students in in stimulating literary and factual texts.
Students receive systematic, explicit instruction in reading to address their individual needs. To reinforce this learning, students participate in carefully selected independent, individual or group literacy learning tasks.
Quality literature and digital and print factual texts are used extensively to inspire students’ imaginations and to develop deep skills in comprehension, purposeful student talk and student writing.
